Looking at key economic events for the week:
The Reserve Bank of Australia announced its Interest Rate Decision today. Bank of Canada’s Governor, Stephen Poloz will have his speech early tomorrow morning followed by New Zealand’s first quarter unemployment numbers during the day.
The Euro zone will release their quarterly GDP tomorrow night, and straight after the US Federal Reserve will announce their Monetary Policy Statement and Interest Rate decision.
Thursday, we’d await Australia to release its Trade Balance stats while the EU will release its inflation numbers for the month of April.
Friday, the news is heavy on the US as they release their March Trade Balance, Jobless Claims and Factory Orders. Also, the Reserve Bank of Australia is expected to announce its Monetary Policy Statement while the Reserve Bank of New Zealand would release its first quarter inflation expectations.
All these are major announcements for the week, and it will be interesting to see how each of these affects our Fiji dollar currency basket.
